Impregnated wooden sleepers
For more than 150 years, processes for impregnating railway sleepers with creosote in high-pressure autoclaves have been successfully used and applied worldwide: the Simple Rüping process for oak and pine sleepers and the Double Rüping process for beech sleepers.
To improve the natural durability of wooden sleepers, since around 1850, creosote (Carbolineum), a distillate of coal tar, has been used as an impregnating oil to achieve resistance against fungal pests and insects. This impregnation is also the reason for the typical dark appearance of wooden sleepers.
Impregnatsiya 2000 AD is the only company of its kind in Bulgaria, specialized in the impregnation of wooden sleepers with creosote oil in an autoclave by vacuum and pressure according to the methods of Rüping and Lowry
The impregnation methods used by us ensure deep penetration (class P8 of impregnation throughout the sapwood) of creosote into the interior of the wood, thus providing it with maximum protection and long-term exploitation.
Wooden sleepers impregnated in this way with creosote oil are protected from rot, mold, insects, fungi, mildew and other microorganisms, as well as from the effects of moisture and any other atmospheric conditions. Thus, they achieve a service life of up to 35 years.
Railway sleepers must meet various requirements: they must be able to withstand weathering, distribute loads well, guarantee a durable track gauge, have high longitudinal and lateral resistance to displacement, be sufficiently accurate in dimensions and, last but not least, be inexpensive to maintain.
Impregnatsiya 2000 AD produces high-quality sleepers from all types of wood and sizes
Standardized for the construction of normal and narrow-gauge (decovil sleepers) railway lines, for switches (switch sleepers), bridges (bridge sleepers) and crane roads. The highest quality German creosote oil is used in the impregnation process. All sleepers have metal clamps embedded in the end surfaces for optimal protection of the wood.
